PENNYMUIR Roxburghshire, Scotland.

Three Roman temporary camps beside the road from York to the Forth at Pennymuir. The two W of the road, 16.8 and 3.6 ha in extent, are well preserved, the smaller one contained within the other. Each had six gates, a rampart 4.5 m thick, and a ditch of the same breadth. The third camp, E of the road, was of intermediate size and had only four gates. These camps presumably housed the troops who built the practice siegeworks on nearby Woden Law.
